LMS Angel - Thomas A Walker
November 16, 1955 - January 5, 2000
Tom and Sandy were high school sweethearts and were married in 1976. They lived in Washington Twp where they raised their three daughters; Shannon, Erin and Kelly. Tom filled many rolls in his life - loving husband, devoted father, son, brother and friend. He certainly touched many lives as he fulfilled these roles.
Tom loved life. As a father he was fully given to his loving daughters and helping them in any way he could. He was totally involved in their lives whether it was trips to the orthodontist, clowning around the house, or their sporting events. Tom was also head coach at St. Bridget's School for 16 years, trying to fill the need wherever he could, whether it was buying uniforms or even basketballs for the school team. He had a kind and generous heart, always thinking of others. Even those outside of the family were recipients of Tom's kindness. He made a special point at Christmas and Thanksgiving to help families that were less fortunate. This annual tradition continued even after Tom's own health declined.
In July of 1998, Tom was diagnosed with a stomach leiomyosarcoma. Tom endured many surgeries and doctor's visits over the last year and a half as he battled his illness. Even as Tom faced the trials of his cancer, he never hesitated to encourage and support others with the same disease. Tom peacefully passed away in his sleep on January 5, 2000 with Sandy at his side.
