LMS Angel - Kathy Goldring Fromberg

Picture
Became an LMS Angel July 19, 2006

Kathy Goldring-Fromberg struggled with leiomyosarcoma for nine years. Her treatment, many times, was in multiple locations in the Los Angeles area which frequently meant working with doctors who were unfamiliar with the latest treatments for this rare cancer. By using the internet she was able to learn of worldwide research and treatment options. Driven by her frustration with insurance company, Kathy sent a letter to Dr. Denis Slamen, Director of Oncology, at UCLA. She made the commitment to raise money for a comprehensive sarcoma program so other patients would not have to endure the struggles and limitations she had faced. In the last two years of her life, Kathy raised over $520,000 to initiate the UCLA Sarcoma Clinical/Translational Research Program at the Johnsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. UCLA is now one of the three busiest sarcoma comprehensive treatment programs in the nation.

Kathy left behind a husband, two sons, a daughter, her parents, 3 siblings and her in-laws.
