LMS Angel - Betty Dorrell

Picture
March 8, 1955 - March 11, 2011

My mother was a fighter all her life.  Her toughest battle was with LMS, which lasted 2 1/2 years and unfortunately claimed her life.  Initially, a tumor was discovered on her right shoulder, which was successfully removed with no complications in Oct. 2008.  In Sept. 2010 she had pain in her left shoulder/chest, which unfortunately turned out to be a tumor growing from her left lung.  Extensive surgery was performed, with followup radiation and chemo, but unfortunately this "dragon" could not be stopped, and she passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2011.

My mother leaves behind 3 daughters and one son, and 6 grandchildren, all of whom dearly love her and sorely miss her.  We celebrated her 56th birthday with a huge celebration just 3 days before she died.  We were fortunate to be able to give her the gift of dying at home surrounded by her friends and family.

My mother was a spunky, fun lady with a great sense of humor.  She cared for everyone and received lots of love in return.  She was taken from us way too soon... we love you forever and miss you so much Mommy...
